How to use Datamosh

Upload a video (MP4, WebM, or MOV). High-motion shots produce the most visible datamosh.
Pick a preset (Bleed for the classic melt, Glitchcore for full chaos, Sort Sweep for horizontal streaks) — or pick a Mode and dial it in by hand.
In I-Frame Drop, push Chaos and tune Freeze Duration. In Blocks, set Displacement and Block Size. In Pixel Sort, choose Vertical or Horizontal, then balance Threshold against Streak.
Open the Compression Artifacts section if you want extra block grid or quantisation noise on top of the mode.
Add markers along the timeline if the effect should hit on specific moments. Without markers it runs the whole clip.
Export as MP4 at up to 4K. The audio rides through unchanged.

Tips

I-Frame Drop at 0.2–0.3 with a short freeze gives a controlled bleed. Push to 0.7+ with a long freeze for the Smear preset territory.
Block Displacement at small sizes reads as VHS. Crank the block size and it flips to a Y2K compression-error read.
In Pixel Sort, keep Threshold around 0.55 and push Streak past 0.5. You get the streak without losing the underlying image.
Add a Block Grid pass at 30–40% on top of any mode for an extra compressed-to-death texture.
